The Service will assess the reasonableness of set prices for the product.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS of Russia) has sent requests to 19 major flour producers to analyze the validity of prices for these products. This is reported by the press service of the agency.
Producers will provide data on the volume of production, sales, weighted average cost and wholesale price of flour from 2023. In case of signs of violation FAS will take measures to respond, emphasized in the department.
The FAS explained that they turned to flour producers because of information in the media and bakery enterprises' appeals to the agency.
On July 2, RBC with reference to the National Baking Union (NBU) reported that bakery companies faced with rising prices for flour due to the rise in grain prices against the background of crop forecasts. In May, companies received notices of flour price increase up to 29-30 rubles per 1 kg in June. In just two weeks, flour prices went up by 30% or more against prices at the beginning of the month.
