From June 22 to July 1, the Higher School of Economics (HSE University) will host Artificial Intelligence and Society Conference (AIS), jointly organized by the BRICS Competition Law & Policy Centre, HSE University, and School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence, HSE University.
The conference will address the rapid development of AI as a complex challenge affecting key domains — from medicine and education to economics and politics. The discussions will focus on the phenomenon of “co-evolution,” in which humans and intelligent systems shape one another, as well as on preserving the leading role of humans in guiding this process. Participants will examine the need to integrate scientific, technological, and humanities-based approaches, and will consider which value frameworks, institutional arrangements, and forms of collaboration can support a sustainable interaction between AI and society.
As part of the conference, an international seminar titled “AI and BRICS Competition Policy" will take place on June 22–23, organized by theBRICS Competition Law & Policy Centre and the HSE University School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence.
This seminar will focus both on the competition risks of AI technology and on the ways competition authorities can harness it for the benefit of better competition enforcement. The discussion brings together representatives of the BRICS+ competition authorities, academics and industry experts in a series of conversations to position competition law against the growing challenges of AI transformation.
