The deal’s value, which was approved by Brazil's antitrust authority, was not disclosed.

Syngenta Crop Protection has announced the completion of the acquisition of Produtécnica, a distributor of agricultural inputs operating in the states of Maranhão, Piauí and Tocantins, through its SYNAP Commercial Platform, following approval by CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense).

″The approval of this acquisition adds a highly relevant brand to SYNAP, which, together with the other brands that make up our Commercial Platform, keeps us aligned to ensure that Brazilian farmers have access to our innovations, implemented in Syngenta's robust portfolio of products and services,″

said Ricardo Perez, General Director of SYNAP.

In addition to Produtécnica’s six units, Syngenta will have around 90 stores of its own, as well as more than 200 partner distributors and cooperatives.

Syngenta has acquired a number of companies in the Brazilian agricultural sector in recent years. In 2021, Syngenta acquired Brazilian agricultural input distributor Dipagro. The following year, Agro Jangada, from Mato Grosso do Sul, and in 2023, Agrocerrado, from Minas Gerais.

In addition, last July, Syngenta announced the completion of its acquisition of Feltrin Sementes, a leading vegetable seed company founded in 1979 in Brazil and serving customers in more than 40 countries.
