CCI chief Ravneet Kaur emphasises on the need for regulators to adopt AI.
Ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in association with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), organised a workshop in New Delhi here today. The theme of the workshop was ‘Artificial Intelligence, Competition & Governance’.
“Discussions focused on emerging challenges posed by AI deployment, the need for coordinated regulatory responses, and the importance of preserving competitive markets, while enabling innovation,”
an official statement added. Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson, CCI, pointed out that AI is rapidly reshaping market structures, far outpacing the ability of existing regulatory systems, and hence closer co-ordination among regulators is needed. She added that regulators also need to adopt AI and adapt to the challenges being posed.
Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) & CEO, IndiaAI Mission; Dipti Gaur Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs; and Nidhi Khare, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs and Chief Commissioner, Central Consumer Protection Authority, also addressed sessions at the workshop.
The workshop was held as an official pre-summit event leading to the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, reinforcing India’s commitment to developing a balanced and forward-looking framework for AI governance.
“The workshop concluded with reflections on the way forward, emphasising the importance of collaborative, risk-based, and proportionate regulatory approaches to ensure that AI-driven innovation advances in a manner consistent with competition principles, consumer welfare, and public interest,”
